Device Server automatically killed after some time

HI

We are launching C++ DS by Java DS using java.lang.Runtime.exec() method.Same method also launches alarm tool(in python) and archiver tool(Java). We left this set up running for a day and noticed that C++ DS were killed automatically.But alarm tool and archiver tool were running fine.

Our assumption at first was that the Java method terminates the process but then the alarm tool and archiver tool should also be killed which doesn’t happen .

So is it a compatibility issue of JAVA DS and C++ DS in Tango platform ?

Hi,

There is a great chance that what you observe is linked to the way you start your C++ DS. Here at the ESRF, we have plenty
of C++ device servers (most of them started by the Starter device) running for months and they are not automatically killed.
